Breville 920 clean me11/13/2022 ![]() Here is a link to the process, though I have not tested the method myself. It's pretty disappointing for a $1000+ machine but still great outside of this big flaw.ĮDIT: It was brought to my attention (thanks u/patrick-motdgd) that there are some hidden menus on these machines that may help avoid opening the machine. Really hope this helps someone, I RMAed my machine and even the new one had this issue. I just got to the point that taking apart the machine has just become part of the process of descaling. I think one possible way to avoid it would be to dilute your descaler more, but it won't be as effective. Keep in mind, this will likely happen next time. If not you can try repeating the process (steps 1 through 5). Let it go until you see water going through the steam wand (takes pretty long, make sure to start with plenty of water).Ħ) Turn off the machine and then drain the steam boiler.ħ) Reconnect the sensor, power ON the machine.Ĩ) At this point it should fill the steam boiler again, if it does, reassemble the machine. SEE PICTURES here: ).Ĥ) Put steam lever into ON position (important not to put pressure on the steam boiler pump).ĥ) Plug machine back in Turn ON and you should hear the steam boiler filling. warranty we took out replaces the item if the repair takes too long. 1 under 'lemon' clause (too many repairs) - 2nd because the ext. (Red and blue, on right hand-side steam boiler)ģ) Disconnect one of the sensor wires (red or blue does matter, they should should be unplug-able. 2,199 Listing monitored by Breville 75 questions from our users Lou asked 4 years ago BES920 (Dual Boiler) This is our 3rd Dual Boiler - the two others both replaced under ext. We esentially need to trick the machine to fill with clean water in order to rinse the descaler off the sensor. Once the descaler coats the sensors, the machine will continue to think water has hit them even when it hasnt. BREVILLE 920 CLEAN ME FULLWhat happens is the descaler makes the machine think the boilers are full (different resistance than water). Not sure if people figured this out but I do this every time I descale and thought it's worth sharing. They can be good for mucking around on though.EDIT: New method available check the link at bottom None of them last much past 4 weeks from roast date, the Peru even less. Colombia is the best if you can get it, if it was fresh enough I'd use it as my every day bean but it's hard to get much younger than 3 weeks post roast date, and they only get replenished every few weeks at best (at least near me) I'd rather support a little guy and get fresh coffee. I think Brazil and Peru were there last time I was there, Brazil is the better of the two. The single origins are better than the blends. It's just below the expiry date and in reverse format YYMMDD. I'd get a bag of Lazio to start learning with, 18-20 grams into a double basket and see how you go.They actually give the roast date on the bag. You'll get better tasting coffee, more consistent, and won't be running your grinder at almost maximum, oh and you'll see proper crema!Īs suggested above, the single basket is unforgiving and is a lot more difficult to maintain consistency shot-to-shot. The use by dates are 13 months from date of roast, if i remember correctly, so try get the "latest" use by. I've been through this tail chasing process, and I'd suggest at a minimum, buying some Aldi Lazio coffee. On the other hand if I've used a more course grind it is weaker but not sure whether I'm making the best use of my machine.Īny help generic or specific would be greatly appreciated. It seems as though my quest to get closer to a 1:2 coffee ratio has led me so far too be having burnt like coffee which makes me want to go to the toilet. I'm quite overwhelmed with information and would love some advice. I'm grinding it at setting 4 ground 18g to fill my double shot filter basket though send to be following quickly still. I'm using supermarket beans the Vittoria mountain grown coffee. What I'm finding though is as I'm reducing the grind size the bitterness of the shot appears to be increasing and it seems to make my gut feel like it's bloating. My water flow appears to be quite fast and I've been attempting to make the grind smaller to reduce the speed of extraction. I until recently I've been using a single basket filter. I've recently been reading up on coffee to water ratios and my understanding is that aiming for a 1:2 coffee ratio is an ideal ball park with 25 to 30 seconds being the ideal extraction time to get about 30mls coffee. BREVILLE 920 CLEAN ME HOW TOI have a Breville Bes920 coffee machine with a Breville smart grinder and would like advice on how to dial in my espresso. ![]()
